The introduction of the fig tree in the Cilento seems to be before the sixth century a. C. It is to be attributed to the Greek colonists who had founded several cities in this area. Famous authors of the Roman era have praised the characteristics of Cilento agricultural products, including dried figs, used in Cilento and Lucania as a food base for the labor employed in field work. The "Fico Bianco del Cilento" PDO has gradually evolved, from "bread of the poor", as it was once called, to fine food. THE WINE OF CILENTO

Cilento to visit, to eat ... and to drink! In the heart of the Park, in fact, the famous Cilento wines are produced. These are high quality wines, among which we find since 1989 a Cilento DOC (Controlled Denomination of Origin) which includes wines made from vines of: Aglianico, Fiano, Piedirosso, Primitivo, Sangiovese, Trebbiano toscano, Greco, Malvasia bianca. Cilentan vines have their origins in ancient Greece. In fact, the colonists came here from the Peloponnese coasts to begin the cultivation of the vine and, therefore, the production of wine.
